Hyundai IONIQ Details Unveiled Ahead of its Geneva Debut

It's been around six months when Hyundai had first released the sketch of its upcoming hybrid car, IONIQ. After releasing all the teased images and sketches, the company has finally revealed the details about this new vehicle, just before its official debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. As we all are well aware that it is the first model to be available in three powertrain option, namely IONIQ Hybrid or full hybrid, IONIQ Plug-in and IONIQ electric or full electric.

Starting with the powerhouse, the hybrid and plug-in categories get a new Kappa 1.6-litre GDI, four cylinder, direct injected petrol engine that churns out 104 Bhp of power and about 14.98kgm of torque. A six-speed double clutch transmission is coupled to the engine.

Furthermore, the full hybrid has been attached with an electric motor of a lithium-ion-polymer battery with a 1.56 kwh capacity that delivers 43 Bhp of power and 17.98 kgm of torque. The overall output measured with this unit is 139 Bhp of power and 27.02 kgm of torque that can do a top speed of 185 kph. Then again with the plug-in hybrid, it has also been paired with an electric motor that comes with an 8.9 kwh lithium-ion polymer battery, generating about 60 Bhp of power and can be driven around up to the range of over 50 Km.

Coming to the IONIQ electric, Hyundai has provided a powerful lithium ion battery of 28 kwh capacity that is good for 118 Bhp of power and 30.08 kgm of torque. It has also packed with a single-speed reducer transmission. The company claims that it can make a top speed of 165 kph and a range of 250 km.

To separate the full electric trim from the other two, the brand has made some visual difference that is exclusive copper-colored accents attached to the former ones and the rest of two get a blue accent. The common features are listed as a 7.0-inch TFT instrument cluster, TOMTOm live service, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto at the interior. in terms of safety, blind spot detection, lane keep assists, rear cross traffic alert, an autonomous emergency braking system and a smart cruise control system has also been added.
