The premium offering from Japanese carmaker, Isuzu MU-X SUV is all set to launch in the Indian market on May 11, 2017. Prior to that, a set of leaked brochure images has been surfaced online revealing the complete list of features along with the inside-out details and under hood specs.
Since MU-X is the uber class SUV, it will be loaded with a range of top-end features and smart equipment and will replace the outgoing flagship model in Indian lineup - MU-7. Once launched, the company will be battling it out against the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero, Chevrolet Trailblazer and the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq as well.
According to the brochure images, Isuzu will offer this new flagship MU-X SUV in only one diesel powertrain which is a 3.0-litre 4-cylinder VGS turbo setup and can develop a maximum power of 174 bhp and a peak torque of 380 Nm. The mill is only paired with a standard 5-speed sequential shift automatic transmission, no option for the manual gearbox is on the offer. The outputs will be channelled to all four wheels with terrain command control and 'shift on the fly' 4x4 select dial.
The Isuzu MU-X is based on the same platform that also runs the urban class new-generation D-MAX pick-up truck. The SUV, however, is more upmarket both in terms of appearance and list of features and equipment. On the outside, the upper front boasts of the triple-slat chrome grille holding up company’s logo at the center and gets a pair of headlamps at the both ends with projector lamps. The headlamps are further underlined by LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lights). Down there, the fog lamps are furnished with chrome.
On the sides, the SUV runs on the sporty 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, chrome finished door handles and exterior mirrors, aluminium side steps and silver roof rails. The rear section highlight includes LED taillamps along with a curved glass windshield.
Moving on the interiors, the MU-X is a full sized 7-seater SUV featuring a twin-cockpit design with a dual-tone ivory-grey colour theme. To boost the occupants’ comfort, the seats are wrapped in soft leather. The door-side armrest and center armrest are too covered with the soft pads. The steering wheel also wrapped in leather. The piano black center console gets chrome accent for the levers and dials.
The list of features inside the cabin includes climate control, aircon vents for all three rows, integrated 7-inch infotainment system, cruise control and central locking with keyless entry feature.
On the safety bag, the MU-X SUV is loaded with a number safety equipment and several drive assist technology. The list consists dual front airbags, ISOFIX mounts for the child seat, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), brake assist, Traction Control System (TCS) and Hill Start Assist (HSA).
Every-inch details of MU-X have been out ahead of its official launch, yet the price of the SUV has to be announced by the carmaker. We expect the SUV to be tagged around INR 25 Lakh, ex-showroom.
