Jeep Confirms the Hellcat Powered Grand Cherokee SUV

Mike Manley, Jeep CEO has announced that the company is all prepared to manufacture the Hellcat powered Grand Cherokee SUV by mid 2017. The new model will share the same powermill that powers the FCA stablemate Dodge’s Challenger and Charger Hellcat models i.e supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine. The engine is said to produce 717 hp of power and 881Nm of peak torque.

Undoubtedly, the Hellcat model will be ranked higher than the Grand Cherokee SRT which develops power of 467 hp. It is capable of sprinting 0-100kph in 5sec and offers a top speed of up to 257kph.

However, not much has been revealed and we will get more details in the coming months later on. We can expect the Hellcat version to get bigger brakes and hard chassis. Being a performance centrin SUV, the new Hellcat powered Grand Cherokee will be located above the SRT model in the Jeep lineup.

As of now, this year Jeep is ready to enter India with its three much anticipated models. The models were showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. Here, Wrangler will be the eye catching and easy to drive SUV while the Grand Cherokee lies in the luxury segment. Both the SUVs will be available in diesel. The third offering will be the Grand Cherokee SRT, which comes powered by a 6.4-litre petrol V8 engine. It is the top variant of the Jeep lineup in India.
