The Japanese performance bikes manufacturer, Kawasaki has unloaded three new items in street fighter segment in India. These new products include 2017 Z1000, the Z1000R and the Z250. The base variant of the most powerful offering in the Z Series, the 2017 Z1000 is priced at Rs 14.49 lakh whereas the top end Z1000R trim costs Rs 15.49 lakh, around one lakh precious than the standard variant. The last but not the least in the rolled out models, the latest Kawasaki Z250 is the compact engined and most affordable motorcycle in the lineup, that will make you spend Rs 3.09 lakh. All the mentioned prices are exclusively applicable at Delhi dealerships.
If implied changes on the updated 2017 MY Z-series products are considered, all have witnessed significant changes on equipped cycle parts and slight revisions on aesthetics and mechanical front. Though, the inclusion of a Euro-IV compliant powertrain is highly noticeable, that will now comply all the stringent BS-IV emission norms.
Let's starts with the 2017 Z1000 base variant, constructed on a twin-tube aluminium frame, the supernaked is packed with a 1043cc, in-line 4 cylinder engine, which churns out 142PS at 11000rpm and a peak torque of 111Nm at 7300rpm.
The stopping power for the Z1000 will supplied be from dual semi-floating 310mm petal disc rotors with 4-piston caliper at the front wheel and a single 250mm petal disc with single-piston caliper at the rear wheel. While, the promising suspension setup with a 41mm upside down (USD) front forks which offers 120mm travel and a horizontal back-link, gas charged rear monoshock, will perform the absorption of damps on to poor road conditions.
Next in the row is the new Kawasaki Z1000R, which also shares the similar powertrain of the base variant. The differences are at suspension end, the Z1000R received Ohlins supplied fully adjustable rear monoshock and reworked front forks to match up with the new rear shock absorber. For braking, it comes featured with top-spec Brembo M50 monobloc calipers that are anchored on 310mm diameter Brembo floating front discs- similar to its faired brother-the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R.
Both these litre class naked streetfighters will go head to head with the like of BMW S1000R, Ducati Monster 1200, Suzuki GSX-S1000R, Triumph Speed Triple and the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100.
The last member in the queue, the latest Kawasaki Z250 is powered by a 249cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin mill that is capable of producing 32PS of maximum power at 11,000rpm and 21Nm of peak torque at 10,000rpm. All the generated power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox. On suspension front, the compact engined machine is fitted with telescopic front forks and rear placed monoshock for damping duties. While, disc brakes settlement onto both wheels offer precise braking.
The advanced safety feature of ABS has not been granted even as an optional extra. Here in India, it will compete with the available contenders such as the KTM 250 Duke and the Benelli TNT 300.
