KTM Shuts the Door for E-Speed Electric Scooters

According to recent rumors, KTM is no more taking interest in producing electric scooters. The electric scooter prototype is named as KTM E-Speed and it would become the zero emission scooters. The Austrian firm had showcased the prototype at the Tokyo Motor Show, which was being held in the year 2013. The upcoming scooter was scheduled to make its debut in the coming year, 2015. When showcased for the first time at the motor show, the fans have became so inquisitive to know more about the E-Speed electric scooter.

However, scrapping the idea of not producing E-Speed electric scooter doesn't harm the company. The firm has recently showcased two variants of Freeride motorcycles at the INTERMOT motorcycle show, 2014, in Cologne, Germany. The Freeride motorcycles are completely based upon the E-Speed prototype.

Talking about the technical specifications, the motorcycle was built around an electric motor, which is capable to churn out a total power of 14.8 BHP and a peak torque of 36Nm. The power will get transmitted via a belt drive. It is equipped with lithium-ion battery, carrying a capacity of 4.36kW and also gets re-charged within two hours of regular power flow. Instead of featuring an electric motor incorporated with Li-ion battery, the Freeride motorcycle touches a company claimed top speed of 80KMPH and the battery lasts long for up to 64Km.

The E-Speed prototype was also following the Freeride's foot prints. The mechanism of the urban commuter scooter, which was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show, carries a liquid-cooled electric motor 'permanent magnet synchronous'. The electric motor is capable to produce the very same 14.8 BHP of total power and peak torque of 35Nm, reaching top speed of 80KMPH. As of now, the electric scooters is not coming out of the picture, but let's wait for the forthcoming EICMA motorcycle show, as the Austrian might have something for us.
