Mahindra With Maharashtra Govt To Promote EVs

Mahindra & Mahindra along with Maharashtra government has collaboratively signed 2 memoranda of understandings (MoUs) to make the state EV-equipped. The 1st MoU underpins an expansion of Rs. 500 crore to Chakan plant manufacturing EVs and other components which are imported currently. The 2nd MoU is signed to provide 1,000 EVs in Maharashtra in a period of 1 year. From the 1000 EVs, 25 will be e2oPlus electric hatchbacks for the Zoomcar on June 5, 2018 (World Environment Day).

This effort of the government is in line with the rapid adoption of EVs for public and private mobility. At the event, Dr. Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Union Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan and Mr. Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra were present.

The company is ready to invest in Chakan plant for manufacturing of the controller, EVs, battery pack, e-motor and other EVs components for various mobile applications for EVs’ battery pack assembly.
