A few days ago, we told you how Maruti Baleno has become the most talked about car in the Indian market. The massive bookings and favourable sales figure of the hatch have made it the most preferred option in its segment. Moreover, Baleno had also beat Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz in India in terms of sales. And this time around, reports have disclosed that the all new hatchback has succeeded to outsell not only its rivals, but also Maruti's popular Swift that too for the second time in a row.
Discussing the stats, the sale of Swift had gone down by 34% in November and then by 16% in December, 2015. Just in the last two months, the average monthly sales have sloped down from 17,800 units to 13,252 units. On the other hand, Baleno succeeded to sell 20,000 units in the last 2 months. Interestingly, Baleno is priced 9% higher than Swift, which makes it INR 42,700 costlier. Even then the long list of features, superior style and improved fuel efficiency have made people opt for the former.

Swift and Swift Dzire are age old models that have been reigning the Indian automobile market for a long time in their respective segments. Neither of these have ever been affected by any new arrival by the rival firms. Therefore, it's a complicated scene for Maruti Suzuki to manage the sales of both its hatchbacks. Well, maybe the audience has just got bored with the conventional offering and is now ready to pay more for the superior one.
