Maruti Suzuki will launch its own Diesel Engine Range

As the rate of Diesel growing abruptly, so India's No. 1 car maker company Maruti Suzuki is going to manufacture its own Diesel engine. Maruti Suzuki had been using 1.3 multijet engine of Italian car maker company Fiat for a long time. Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, the managing director of Maruti Suzuki has told for the same in an exclusive interview of economic times.

Mr. Ayukawa said that they have already started the development of diesel engine and they have been studying on the growing rate of diesel that how long it will go. The company has been working on 3 or 4 family of engine, in which 2-cylinder with 800cc, 3-cylinder with 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder engines are included. They may be of two different cubic capacity of 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre engines. It will be used in the Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) of Maruti Suzuki.

According to the reporter of Maruti Suzuki, the company has been working to manufacture its own diesel engine since 2009-10. It has started its work for making 1.6-litre engine from 2010-11. The company hopes that its own 800cc diesel engine will be launched in the end of 2014.
