Meet India's first Crowdfunded E-Bike, Spero

To offer something new, extravagant for urban commute, Tamil Nadu based Milltex Engineers presented an electric bike, which has been designated as Spero. Likely to hit the market in the last week of August this year, India’s first crowdfunded e-bike has been developed under a renowned “Fuel A Dream” platform. The firm has collected over Rs 37.5 lakh till now which is much more than the requested Rs 30Lakh amount and still two days remaining in the campaign.

Spero-electric bike specifications

Talking about the qualities of picturesque Spero, it is decorated with some unique features that stand apart from the others in the market. Featured with pedal assist, Spero gets a five-speed gearbox integrated with the digital shifter, cruise control to keep throttle response controlled every time. Moreover, it has a mobile charging and electronic display facility to the rider. The Spero is capable of completing the sprint from 0kmph to the top speed 25kmph just in 10 seconds.

On powering it uses a detachable 48V Li-ion battery that can be charged from any normal domestic circuit and by pedaling as well. The battery takes 6 hours to charge from 0 to 80 percent. The best thing is you can use standard cycle parts on Spero like tires, cables, and mud guards. Promising to offer a comfortable ride, this electric bike is fitted with the telescopic front fork, Imported Korean tyres as standard and front disc brake.

Mr. S Manikandan said,"The experience I gained through years in the factory (textile machinery) has given me the ability to innovate this cycle to perfection. Working within the manufacturing has given me the knowledge and expertise with handling machinery and sourcing materials that work best with this e-bike."
