New BMW X1 Imported to Indian Shores for Testing Purpose

As per a recent entry on the website Zauba, the upcoming BMW X1 has been imported to India for testing purpose. The model is scheduled to be showcased at the Frankfurt Auto Show, which will take place in September, 2015. It will be the first BMW model in the country to be underpinned by the brand's all new UKL platform and weighs 1,430kg. Dimension wise, it is 4,439 mm long, 1,821 mm wide and 1,598 mm tall and the wheelbase offered by this vehicle measures 2,670 mm. This upcoming car is 36 mm shorter, 21 mm wider, 53 mm taller and 135 kg lighter as compared to the current version.

This vehicle will be packed with the same 2 litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that is found in the outgoing BMW X1. The variant that has been reportedly brought for testing is the X1 sDrive20d model that makes 190 Bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque. The motor is clubbed to an eight-speed automatic gearbox that is linked to an AWD (All Wheel Drive) setup.

The mileage delivered by this model is rated at 24.49 km/l and the carbon emission is rated at 128 g/km. Other two variants in the lineup include X1 sDrive18d and X1 sDrive25d, which will be offering the output measuring 159 Bhp/330 Nm and 231 Bhp/450 Nm respectively. This latest version of SUV will be brought to India via CKD route and will be launched in the first half of next year. The CKD kits will be assembled at company's plant located in Chennai.
