New BMW X1 Indian Launch Could be Possible in 2016

Unveiled on June 3, 2015, the next generation BMW X1 is currently surrounded by the reports revealing that the vehicle has been spied testing hinting toward its near launch, which is expected to take place either in the first quarter or in the second quarter of 2016.Thanks to the use of high strength steel and aluminum bonnet, which helps it to lose the weight around 135 kg. Whereas the width and height of the model have been enhanced by 21 mm and 53 mm, respectively, its length has been decreased by 36 mm.

Hence, it results in 4,439 mm of length, 1,821 mm of width, 1,598 mm of height, and the crossover is 2,670 mm in wheelbase. Inside, the X1 is much better than before as its material quality has been improved and is equipped with a new wood dash comprising a freestanding LCD Control Display, BMW's iDrive infotainment system, Head Up Display and instrument cluster with display.

The next generation BMW X1 will go on sale in the Indian market with the same engine as its current model powered by a 2.0 litre four cylinder sDrive20d diesel unit. However, the manufacturer will perform subtle changes over this existing mill in order to make it capable of churning out three output states for three distinct variants, X1 sDrive18d, X1 sDrive20d and X1 sDrive25d. All these models will be good at pumping out 159 bhp/ 330 Nm, 190 bhp/ 400 Nm and 231 bhp/ 450 Nm, respectively.

BMW will make the first appearance of this upgraded vehicle in our country at the upcoming 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show soon in September before introducing it as CKD unit in the anticipated next year.
