Next Generation X-Trail to Arrive in India This Year

Nissan is reportedly getting ready to bring the next generation X-Trail SUV to the Indian shores either on Diwali or by this year's end. This model was introduced in the country for the first time in 2004, but the declining sales forced the automaker to withdraw it form the market. Later in the year 2013, the new version of discontinued model was showcased at Frankfurt Motor Show. This upcoming version is going to be more stylish and improved than the previous one. Look wise, it will also resemble those crossovers being sold by the company in the global market.

Based on the CMF architecture, this SUV will have the capacity to occupy seven passengers at a time. The Active Ride Control equipped in the model carefully reads the road condition and adjusts the suspension system accordingly. This helps the vehicle to be driven efficiently even on the bumpy surfaces thereby making the ride smooth.

Under the hood, the model is expected to carry a 1.6 litre inline diesel motor clubbed with a CVT gearbox that will be linked to a 4WD setup. The maximum output delivered by this unit stands at 128.7 Bhp along with 320 Nm of torque.

This next generation X-Trail is likely to be priced at INR 30-40 Lacs, (ex-showroom) and will be sold as a CKD unit. It will have to compete for getting a hold on the market with cars like Honda CR-V and Hyundai Santa Fe. We hope that this time, the car is received warmly by the customers unlike the older one that failed in India.
