The scooter and commuter segment market in India is heating up each passing day. The national and international two-wheeler manufacturers are concentrating more over the introduction of vehicles in the commuter segment. Now, an international competitor is readying to become a part of the Indian two-wheeler market. The Piaggio has recently brought down its three-wheeled scooter, named as Piaggio MP3 Hybrid scooter, in the country. It clearly gives us the indication that the firm might be planning to launch its hybrid scooter in India.
Moving towards the technical specifications of the Piaggio MP3 Hybrid scooter, it gets its power from a pretty conventional four-stroke, single-cylinder configuration carrying an engine displacement of 125cc. The liquid-cooled engine is tuned to generate a total power of 3.5 BHP. In order to maximize the power of the MP3 Hybrid scooter, an electric motor is combined with the 125cc engine, which results in a power output of 17.5 BHP. The combination power generated by the engine is maximum in its genre of scooter.
However, this is not the first time, when this Italian brand has brought up any vehicle in the country. Currently, the firm is selling its Vespa brand of scooters in India. The Vespa is offering four variants under its scooter section, named as Vespa, VX, S and Vespa Elegante. The Vespa Elegante is a limited edition and newly introduced scooter by Piaggio. All the models offered by Vespa are featuring the very same 125cc single-cylinder, four-stroke engine, coupled with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The liquid-cooled engine is capable to belt out a churning power of 10 BHP and a peak torque of 10.6 Nm.
