Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid To Introduce In Sep 2018

Porsche will introduce the plug-in hybrid version of the 2018 Cayenne in the country nearly around September 2018. In the line, it will be the 2nd electrified car from the manufacturer to make its way to India after the introduction of the Panamera E-Hybrid.

The new Cayenne E-Hybrid takes power from a 340PS 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine which is supported by a 100kW electric motor generating an output of 462PS and 700Nm of torque. The motor runs on all four wheels and comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. According to Porsche, the 2018 Cayenne E-Hybrid can reach 100 kmph from an idle position in just 5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 253kmph. Only with electricity set up, it can reach a range of 44km and a maximum speed of 135kmph.

The new Cayenne E-Hybrid takes a 14.1kWh unit battery on board. Using a 10A/230V connection, this battery can charge up to a top level in 7.8 hours. Although, it can be shortened to 2.3 hours with the use of an optional 7.2kW onboard charger, which needs a 32A/230V power supply. With the help of Porsche Communication Management (PCM) and Porsche Connect app, the charging time can be regulated and checked.

Porsche mentions that the hybrid tech is taken from the 918 Spyder and further, can be utilized to further enhance the additional performance of the car. The drivers can select from the Sport and Sport Plus modes. In the Sport Plus mode, the 700Nm of torque is available instantly.

Other features comprise electric Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC)(optional), smart digital co-pilot, a heated windscreen, independent heating with remote operation, colored heads-up display, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), 22-inch alloy wheels, massage seats, Porsche InnoDrive and adaptive cruise control.

The 2018 Cayenne E-Hybrid will not face any direct competition in India. The other plug-in hybrid SUV in the country is the Volvo XC90 T8 Excellence which is placed below the Porsche.
