Already famed as mini-SUV, the Renault has added a new updated variant to Kwid line-up, with some additional exterior details to enhance the off-road stance, named as Renault Kwid Climber. The new Kwid Climber is launched at a price of INR 4.30 Lakh for the 5-speed manual trim and INR 4.60 Lakh for AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) variant (both the prices are ex-showroom Delhi).
The new Kwid Climber was first showcased in Delhi Auto Expo back in February 2016 and now finally made its way to the showroom floors. Available in the only range-topping RXT (O) trim, both manual and AMT versions has a premium of INR 25,000 over the standard price. There is also an additional INR 4,000 which will be charged for metallic paint and Climber is only available in the same paint, hence overall the price hike is of INR 29,000.
The Kwid Climber will only be offered with the more powerful 1.0-litre petrol engine and available across three different exterior shades - Electric Blue, Outback Bronze and Planet Grey. Bookings for the car have been kicked off across all Renault dealerships in the country.
As we told you before, there are only aesthetic updates through inside-out, mechanically and other specs remain identical to that of the outgoing 1.0L top-end trim. Designed and developed by Renault's design studios in Mumbai and Chennai, on the outside, one will see the more aggressive front fascia with fog lamp inserts and faux skid plate or what they called it, ‘the terrain protector’. Climber theme accent is painted on the highlighted details such as wing mirrors, skid plate and roof rails. From inside, the Climber gets a few Orange inserts on the dashboard, door sills and upholstery, no changes have been made in terms of features.
Sumit Sawhney, Country CEO and Managing Director, Renault India said, "The Renault Kwid Climber has been developed keeping in mind specific customer needs and caters to diverse audiences, becoming the perfect offering for young achievers who are moving up places steadfastly. This new launch reflects our intent to keep pace with global innovations and at the same time make products to suit the local needs."
The new Kwid Climber continues to get power from 1.0-litre petrol engine that develops 68 PS of maximum power along with the 91 Nm of peak torque. Offered with the choice of either 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox, the powerhouse returns a claimed fuel economy of 23.01 kmpl for manual and 24.04 kmpl with AMT setup.
