Renault Kwid to get 2 New Rivals by 2018

After the huge success of Renault Kwid in India, other car makers are obviously not happy with its progress. In a recent report by ET Auto, both Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki are planning to introduce their own entry level models so as to declare a fight with the Kwid. As Renault has adopted the strategy of introducing a crossover-styled car at a low price, similarly other cars are also going to bear a similar trait.

Talking about Hyundai, it is getting ready with an all new car codenamed 'AH' which will mark its entry by the year 2018. The brand expects to sell 95,000-1,00,000 units of this car per annum. It is too soon to talk about the cosmetic and other features, while mechanically it could borrow certain inputs from Eon. Currently, Eon is the only Hyundai product present in the segment and that too has not been updated since its arrival in 2011. Though a newer version of the hatch is about to be rolled out soon, but it has clearly not been able to stand against the reigning Kwid.

Moving on, Maruti Suzuki has always been a favourite among the masses and hence the company must be finding it really difficult to handle Kwid's success. Well, reports claim that Maruti's Alto model is going to be re-introduced with a crossover avatar by 2018 so as to retain its popularity in the segment. Well, it is certainly going to be an interesting battle between all the entry level hatchbacks donning a crossover body. Although things may bring a change in future, Kwid is nevertheless enjoying a great phase in terms of sales as well as bookings.
