Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus, A Special Edition Model to Launch on May 30

With an aim to pay homage to an old aged model of the Royal Enfield RE/WD 125, the manufacturer unveiled a special edition model, the Pegasus. Its launch in India is slated on May 30, 2018. While, the limited edition motorcycle will attract the price tag around INR 2 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Royal Enfield RE/WD 125 served the British troop during the World War II. This special edition Royal Enfield Classic 500 will be produced only in a limited count of 1000 units globally. Which will further be distributed in an average amount of 250 units in countries like the UK, US, India and Australia.

The parent model of the Royal Enfield limited edition Pegasus, the RE/WD 125 was popular with another name the Flying Flea during that time. The Airborne Pegasus unit used this lightweight 125cc two-stroke motorcycle as a means of transport during the war. These bikes were easily deployed behind the enemy lines using parachutes.

If considering this lately unveiled special edition Pegasus Classic 500, it is different from the RE/WD 125. It is heavier and only uses a few details from the ancestor like canvas saddlebags, RE emblem was being used at that time, and the Pegasus coat-of-arms on the tank. In addition to this, the motorcycle features brown handlebar grips and a leather strap with brass buckle across the toolbox.
