Royal Enfield Plans to Increase Production Capacity to 52000 a Month By December

The Chennai-based Eicher Group owned manufacturer, Royal Enfield,  is on the set by introducing the Limited Edition of Classic 500 in the country that will be commenced online from Royal Enfield's online store. Moreover, the premium motorcycle maker clipping at over 40 percent sales on an average every month since the beginning of this year. The company is planning to increase the production capacity of motorcycles to 52000 a month by December, the current production capacity of the motorcycles are 36,500 units.  Recently, the company has reported over 45 per cent of hike in the first half of the current year.

"To meet the growing demand, we have decided to ramp up our capacity to around 52,000 units by December from the present 36,500 units a month. We have also taken land for a third plant near the existing plants for Rs 70 crore, as we foresee the current phase of robust demand to continue," Royal Enfield President Rudratej Singh told the agency.

The Rudratej Singh stated that the annual production of motorcycles this year will be 4,50,000 units that will reduce the waiting period for the motorcycle that seems around five months on an average as the frenetic demand for the motorcycles continue.

Singh said the company has been clipped at 50 percent annually since 2010. He also said, to meet the growing demand, the company will be opening 85 more sales and service network by December taking its overall network to 500.

According to the sales report of the Royal Enfield, in January, the sales of motorcycle grew 43 per cent, whereas, the February show demand growing at 49 percent. Thus, the company has sold over 42 per cent motorcycles in the March and April, which is higher than previous year sales, whereas, in the month of May and June, the monthly sales motorcycles recorded at 47.5 per cent each.
