Tata Motors is gearing up to add an all-new compact SUV, Nexon to its Indian lineup. A production ready sans camouflaged unit of Nexon has recently caught on camera while testing. The snapped unit was much similar to the model which was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo, Delhi and the one also showcased at Geneva Motor Show 2017.
Nexon is based the carmaker’ latest Impact design ideology and features a forward slung design with Tata’s signature details such as the front grille, expanding roof line, sporty bumper and blacked out applique right below the Tata badge at the rear end.
It measures 3.99 meters with allows to sit in the compact sedan segment. The range-topping trim of the 5-seater Nexon is expected to carry the standard features such as climate control, infotainment system with floating display, steering mounted controls and seat height adjustment for the driver.
On the mechanical front, the Nexon will draw power from a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine which is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. Tata could introduce a petrol option as well but on a later date and it will most likely be the 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron setup.
Recent snaps of the compact SUV Nexon shows that the car is almost production ready and is in its final steps of testing. Tata is likely to launch Nexon in India later this year. The competition in the segment is already too high, it will not be easy for the Nexon to beat the cars likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV 300 and the newly launched Honda WR-V.
