Tata Sport Expected on Launch Cards in 2016

Tata Sport, which had been recently uncovered at 2016 Auto Expo, is supposed to be launched soon in the Indian auto market. This model will be offered as the first performance oriented car from the company that is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol 'Revotron' engine. To make it more powerful, the motor has been retuned by a Coimbatore-based Jayem automotive company.

Designed on the same Bolt hatchback platform, the Tata Sport comes mounted with a new badge “s” against the regular  Tata badge. It has also been loaded with some exciting features that are listed as- a rear spoiler, side intake, 17-inch alloy wheels and larger intake system. In a bid to make better control while stopping the vehicle, new hot hatch gets the disc on all four wheels.

With a 1.2 retuned engine, the motor is capable of generating power of 108 Bhp at 5,500 rpm and 170 Nm of torque at between 2,000 to 3,500 rpm. With a 5-speed manual transmission, it can accelerate from 0-100 Km/h in just about 12 seconds.

Some other exciting option will be also offered such as the multi-drive system, which lets the driver help to choose different drive modes such as City, Eco and Sport. The suspension has also been re-cycled to increase performance as well as for a comfortable drive. The pricing aspects are not released as of now, but it could be expected between INR 8 to INR 12 Lakhs. With all these styling and comfort, it might stand as a good competitor to other hatchback cars – Fiat Punto Abarth, VW Polo GTI and upcoming Maruti Baleno RS concept.
