The New Renault Kwid Will Far beyond The Indian Safety Norms in 2017- Renault India

After receiving zero stars in the Global NCAP test, the Renault Kwid makers have come in the wake and in the recent interview with Business Line, Sumit Sawhney, MD and CEO of Renault India has assured that the upcoming Kwid will far exceed the Indian safety norms in 2017.

Talking about the safety of the occupants, Mr Sawhney said, “Kwid continues to be a popular model among the entry level buyers due to excellent value proposition if offers. It is a global car. While we are meeting all the safety requirements of current regulation in India, we will be far exceeding even the requirements the Indian government will be putting in 2017 and 2019.”

Renault Kwid Undergoing NCAP Crash Test

Giving the clarification over the Global NCAP test results, Mr Sawhney says that the car that went for testing was a pre-production prototype and the company has worked on implementing necessary modification to increase the crash protection levels of the global A segment car.

The upcoming cars in India which are under developing phase, have already confirmed to the safety regulations of Bharat NCAP that will come into the effect in 2017 for new cars and 2019 for the existing model lines.

The upcoming two new variants by the Renaults India, Kwid 1.0L MT and 1.0L AMT is expected to get dual airbag and ABS. One of the variants, most likely 1.0 L MT, is expected to launch by the end of this month and the other 1.0L AMT is expected to touch the Indian market before Diwali this year.
