The America-based bike maker, UM Motorcycles has made its entrance in the North Eastern part of India and inaugurated its first dealership in Guwahati. The dealership is situated at T.N. Tower near LCB College in Maligaon area of the city. The one and only showroom is spread over an area of 750 sq. ft, is displaying available UM Renegade series which comprises the Renegade Commando and the Renegade Sport S models. Moreover, you will also get the availability of UM branded accessories and after-sales services and support. Visitors can buy any of the above-mentioned trims at the price sticker of INR 1.74 lakh and INR 1.68 lakh (both ex-showroom, Guwahati) respectively.
Under the joint venture, UM Motorcycles and Lohia Auto are not only manufacturing and selling UM products. But also providing the free of cost aids of recently announced 24x7 Roadside Assistance Programme (RSA), effective since you get the delivery of the selected bike.
Commenting on the inauguration, Rajeev Mishra, CEO of UML, said, “The North-Eastern market contributes to as much as 35% of the total two-wheeler segment in India, hence it was imperative that we expand our footprint in this region. Guwahati is the first dealership, we have inaugurated in North East India and we plan to have a presence in each of the seven sister states as well. This part of the country has excellent highways besides lakes and rivers through forests and hills, making it an ideal playground for cruiser motorcycles. Beneath the fuel tank, both the UM Renegade Commando and the Sport S cruisers, are sharing the similar powertrain of 280cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The engine is capable of producing 25PS at 8,500rpm and delivering 21.8Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm through mated a smooth six-speed synchromesh transmission with overdrive for more efficient and silent operations on highways. Apart from this, the bikes are also featured with USB charging port, under seat storage area and a wide rear tyre for exceptional grip on the wet and uneven surfaces.
Underpinning the same platform, the flagship model, UM Renegade Classic is also in the queue to hit the market sometimes this year. The Renegade Classic is likely to boast some advanced features like EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).
