Vespa will Turn into Fuel-Injected, Launch Soon

The two-wheeler manufacturers are getting more conscious about the quality of their product. These days, every other automobile manufacturer is introducing their in-house build technology in their products. They wanted to make their product a fuel-efficient vehicle providing better riding performance.

Recently, the Piaggio India has also made an announcement of introducing its well-known Vespa scooters along with Fuel-Injection technology. Now, the Vespa scooters have become a perfect blend of retro-style along with latest high-end technology. The company is planning to introduce FI technology in existing models of the Vespa Series in India.

Currently, Indian Piaggio is manufacturing three models under Vespa Series; those are Vespa, Vespa S and Vespa VX. The price of these scooters stands in between Rs 68,333 to Rs 74,075 (Ex-Showroom Mumbai). The new models of Vespa replacing carburetor will make these scooters Rs 4000 pricier than its current price. The company would avail FI Series of Vespa scooters by the month of November, 2014. Apart from the international market of Vespa scooters, India is the only one using carburetors, instead of fuel-injection. The reason behind this is due to the uncertain quality of fuel available in the market. The manufacturer had gone through various testing and coordinated engine with the fuel behavior.

Eventually, the purpose is to improve the fuel-efficiency of the scooter by introducing an FI system in Vespa scooters. Technically, scooters will be featuring the same power specifications. They will be receiving power from an air-cooled, single-cylinder engine mated with a CVT-transmission, giving a 125cc engine displacement. The power and torque figures are 10BHP and 10.6Nm, respectively. The company is also planning to introduce a 150cc scooter along with the FI system pretty soon, but hasn't revealed any detail about the upcoming scooter.
