There has been a lot of hullabaloo lately, about the upcoming Volkswagen Ameo, which is reportedly going to be presented at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. And now some more reports have disclosed that the compact sedan will be officially launched on 2nd February, 2016. If this turns out to be true, this would mean that instead of making a premier at Expo, the car might be showcased with full details just one day before the biennial event. However, despite being launched early, it will still be a part of the Expo. Some major rivals for Ameo are Swift Dzire and Figo Aspire.
Ameo is going to be largely identical to the Polo model and particularly the interiors are going to be the same as found in the hatchback. Equipments like 3-spoke steering wheel, automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment facility, 2DIN music system enabled with Bluetooth and AUX connectivity are going to be fitted inside he car. Moreover, the safety features like dual front airbags, ABS and EBD could also be offered as standard fitments.

Mechanically, there will be both diesel and petrol powertrains in the lineup fitted with a 1.5 litre TDI and a 1.2 litre MPI motor. Transmission will most probably be handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox, while a 7-speed DSG could also be rolled out at a later date. As of now, the car has not been revealed except for the slight glimpse of its rear end that was teased recently.
