Volkswagen and LG Join Hands for Development of Connected Car Platform

Recently, we had witnessed a new design AM-RB 001 that was developed by the cooperation of two legendary firm- Aston Martin and Red Bull. And now, another automobile manufacturing company Volkswagen has partnered with Korean technical giant LG to develop a connected car platform that will enable cars to communicate with other electronic devices.

"Volkswagen is pressing on with the digitalisation of its brands. Our focus in doing so is always on our customers. For them, comfort, safety and energy efficiency play a central role. LG is a strong, reliable partner in the implementation of new features and one of the drivers of innovation in the networked household. We look forward to working with LG and to developing in future simple, easy-to-use smart home solutions for our customers integrated into our vehicle systems," stated by Prof. Dr. Thomas Form, Volkswagen Group Research Head of Electronic and Vehicle Research.

As the part of the partnership, the joint venture will produce technologies, likely to come along with the smart home devices such as security systems, lights and domestic equipments that will be under the control of drivers.

They will work together in building a special notification centre that would help managing messages in a better and feasible manner. It will be optimized for the assistance to drivers as well.

Richard Choi, head of the LG Cloud Center, said, “LG Electronics and Volkswagen are teaming up to develop the next generation of connected car platform that allows wide integration with smart home services and adoption of open IoT connectivity technologies.” Further added, “We think LG’s expertise in smart technology together with Volkswagen’s leadership in the automotive space will revolutionize the way drivers interact with their vehicles.”
