New Volkswagen Passat Launched in India at INR 29.99 Lakh

Volkswagen has launched its all-new eighth-generation Passat in India. Priced at INR 29.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Passat is on offer in two variants and no hybrid variant is introduced yet. The 2017 Passat was earlier showcased at 2014 Paris Motor Show and now after a long duration of three years, now it hit the Indian ground. In 2013, the automaker discontinued the model from its Indian lineup owing to low sales figures.

the all-new Passat is the second product from the German manufacturer after Tiguan. Also, it is based on the shared Volkswagen Group’s MQB (modular transverse matrix) platform from its siblings such as the Tiguan and the current third-gen Skoda Superb.

If the styling of new-generation Passat is compared to the discontinued model, they look alike with subtle changes. At the front, the executive sedan gets the typical VW sedan grille flanked by wraparound full-LED headlamps, character waistline at side profile which reached to the split-wrap-around LED tail lamps.

While, inside the cabin, the comfort and convenience features include A 12.3-inch TFT digital instrument cluster with Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto. other features along with needed safety features are new Park Assist and Head Up Display(HUD).

Beneath the front end, the Passat will be loaded with a 2.0-litre TDI diesel which in association with a 6-speed DSG transmission is capable of generating 174bhp of power.

Whereas, its petrol engine variant is expected to mark its presence next year as similar to the Volkswagen Tiguan. In terms of rivalry, the new Passat will go against the likes of the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and its sibling, the Skoda Superb in the segment.
