As we have recently informed you that the Swedish luxury automaker, Volvo is aiming to make the introduction of its all new XC90 SUV this year in the Indian automotive sector, and now there is one more information that the manufacturer is also anticipated to set up its V40 with hatchback model in the country in Q2, 2015. Its crossover model is already available here from June 2013 around the expensive price of INR 32.5 Lacs, while the upcoming variant would acquaint as its cheapest version that is expected to be priced between INR 23 Lacs to INR 28 Lacs.
This vehicle will share its overall design structure and platform with the existing one, apart from the exterior features. As the car will be cheaper than the crossover model, so it's well known that there might be some lack of components and hence, this time, the car is likely to ditch a side body cladding, sump guards, larger alloy wheels and roof rails, which have been found on its predecessor.
It would get new front as well as rear bumper and the latest horizontal daytime running lights. The interior is also probable to be same as the crossover version excluding minor missed out features, while including rear seats that will have a capacity to be folded down to expand its boot space. Moreover, the V40 hatchback would have a front wheel drive configuration and will be powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine to produce power of 152 PS as well as torque of 360 Nm.
Notably, this small variant will render a spectacular ARAI validate fuel efficiency of 16.84 km/l. The runabout will give a tremendous rivalry against the BMW 1 Series and Mercedes A Class.
