Yamaha Exposes New YZF-R1S in US

The Japanese bike maker, Yamaha has expanded its US portfolio as the company has unveiled its new street fighter, 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1S in US automobile market. Presently, the Japanese giant is offering two models of YZF-R1 as R1 and R1M. There were rumors that Yamaha is working on new bikes of R1 series. The motorcycle will be a new entry-level offering from the Yamaha R1 flagship.

Talking about the Yamaha YZF-R1S, it comes with the same technology that is used in R1 and R1M. However, the cost of the new bike will be less than the existing variants of R1 as it is loaded with some extra features that have been made to bring down the cost. The company is planning to complete a wider set of customers.

The conrods and exhaust headers is finished by the steel, instead of titanium. The sports bike is manufactured with alloy wheels that uses aluminium. The engine that is built with magnesium, covers sump and the alloy wheels. The YZF-R1S has got extra weight of 4 Kg over the R1 by the replacement of metals. The new bike is not in-housed with the quick-shifter, but the high-spetraction control with the Inertial Measurement Unit has remained in the R1S.

The powering of the motorcycle has not been exposed yet, but it is being expected that the bike might be powered by a liquid-cooled, 4 cylinder and 988cc mill, that might produce a maximum power of around 200 PS. The YZF-R1S will be available at a price tag of $ 14,990 in February 2016 in the US market. The price of the bike is $ 2,000 cheaper than the R1. The motorcycle will be sold in two paint schemes as Matte Gray and Intensity White.
