How will you react when you come to know that a single person did save 2 million lives?? "Impossible" might be the first word that would come in your mind, well I am sorry to disenchant you, Google the name "James Harrison" and you will be surprised.

James is an Australian citizen who was born in the year 1936; soon he realized how special his blood was. James blood contains a rare kind of cell which can be used to treat major diseases like anemia. The rare kind of cell found in his blood contain what we now call as antibody, these antibodies were used to treat lethal form of the disease anemia. The antibody found in his blood is responsible for saving 2 million life.

It all started when he was of 14 years and had to go for a chest surgery; 13 liter of blood was used in his surgery, after the commencement of the surgery James was so thankful that he vowed to donate blood after the age of 18. After attaining the age of 18 he started donating his blood in every few week, soon the importance of his blood was realized and his life was insured by the government against a sum of one million Australian dollars.

Later his blood played an important role in the development of vaccine called Anti-D. For the heroic events he did for the citizen of Australia, he was awarded with order of Australia medal, and further he was nominated for Australian of the year award. In the year 2011 he was nominated for the local hero of the division award.

By 2010 James was 74 and has already donated 984 times and was looking to reach a milestone of 1000 by the end of the year 2010.

One should learn from the man, being at such an age he still is as zealous and devoted in saving other's life as he was at the age of 18, our world is full of such heroic people it’s just a matter of time before they surface up.
