Now Cancer patients can have morphine drug as a pain killer. Hospitals can prescribe morphine to cancer patients but they need to apply for permit. J.D. Salem, State Finance Minister said that 90 percent of morphine has been produced by India for whole world. He also added "We need to get the crop, but at the same time, we will have to be cautious against trafficking. We need to make the drug available."

Before the amendment in the Narcotics act, morphine was implacably regulated in which patients were needed some round of paper work before availing the drug. Passing the bill, morphine will now be allowed only for medical purpose.v

Amended Act determines some conditions and forms of permit and license for transport, import-export, sales and purchases. For all these procedure, applicant will be charged a fee. But there will be also some negative effects of this pain killer. Here a question arises about its misuse!
