Huawei, sub-brand Honor has launched two smartphones with GPU Turbo Technology at an event in China, dubbed as Honor 9i (2018) and Honor Play. Both of the smartphones are integrated with GPU Turbo Technology best for those users who are looking for gaming smartphone.
The Honor 9i (2018) is an upgraded version of last year launched Honor 9i that was unveiled in India in October previous year. The 2018 edition of Honor 9i features a metallic unibody design and glass back panel. The Honor 9i (2018) has beauty mode which enables users to capture impressive photos. The Honor 9i (2018) is available in two storage variants:64GB and 128GB inbuilt storage. The company is offering the smartphone in multiple color options: Black, Blue, Green, and Purple.
In China, the Honor 9i (2018) has been priced at CNY 1,399 roughly translates to 14,600 for 4 4GB RAM+64GB inbuilt storage. However, the 4GB RAM+128GB internal storage variant is available at CNY 1,699 (approximately Rs. 17,800). The Honor 9i (2018) will be available for purchase from 7th June. However, the user can pre-book the smartphone via Huawei Mall. Currently, the company has not revealed the pricing and availability details of the global launch of the new version of Honor 9i.
The 2018 Edition of Honor 9i has 5.84-inch full-HD+ IPS display, 19:9 Aspect Ratio and a screen resolution of 1080x2280 pixel. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo skinned with EMUI 8.0. The smartphone has an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor along with GPU Turbo Technology which provides high- gaming experience to the users.The smartphone is bundled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB internal storage that can be further extended up to 256GB by using a memory card.
In terms of camera department, Huawei 9i (2018) features dual rear cameras which consisting 13-megapixel primary camera and 2-megapixel secondary camera. The dual- rear camera comes with features such as PDAF, burst mode, HDR, LED flash and time-lapse. For the selfie snapper, the smartphone sport a 16-megapixel front camera with beauty mode. Both rear and front support full-HD (1080p) video recording.
In terms of connectivity, the Honor Huawei 9i (2018) include G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and Micro-USB. The smartphone has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and also comes with Face Unlock Feature. Under the hood, it packs a 3000mAh Li-Polymer battery and the dimensions of Huawei 9i are 149.2x71.8x7.7mm.
The Honor Play, 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM variants have been priced at CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs. 21,000) and CNY 2,399 (approximately Rs. 25,100) respectively. The users can pre-book the smartphone from Huawei Mall and the deliveries will start from 11th of June particularly in the China market. The Chinese company has launched the smartphone Black, Blue, and Violet Color Options.
The Honor Play bears a 6.3-inch Full HD+ LCD display, 19:5:9 aspect ratio and a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and 85 percent NTSC color gamut. It has 2.5D curved glass on top which protects the gadget from damaging and breaking. It runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo) out-of-the-box skinned with EMUI 8.2. It is embedded with an octa-core Huawei Kirin 970 SoC clocked at 1.8 GHz matted with Mali-G72 GPU and the built-in NPU (neural processor unit).
The smartphone is equipped with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage with an option to extend further up to 256GB via microSD card. It supports hybrid sim configuration (nano + nano / microSD) connectivity. For security purpose, the Honor Play gets a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Under the hood, it packs a 3750 mAh battery along with fast charging support.
In terms of camera department, the Honor Play comes with dual- rear cameras along with AI features. The dual- rear camera setup gets a 16-megapixel primary camera with PDAF, an aperture of f/2.2 and 2-megapixel secondary camera with an aperture of f/2.4. For selfies and video calling, the smartphone has 16-megapixel front-facing camera with an aperture of f/2.0.
In terms of connectivity, the Honor Play has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and USB Type-C. Sensors on the smartphone are re an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. The Honor Play packs a 3750 mAh battery with the support of fast charging. In terms of dimensions, it measures 157.91x74.27x7.48mm and the weight of the smartphone is 176 grams.
