Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition Launched, Priced at 1,799 Yuan for China

The China based Consumer Electronics Company, Meizu has finally made available its Ubuntu OS based smartphone, Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition in its home country. As the matter of fact, after entry-level BQ Aquaris E4.5, it is the second handset loaded with such operating system. To remind you, device had seen light of the day during Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 held in Barcelona.

Notably, company had also designed a Flyme 4.0 OS (based on Android 4.4 KitKat) running version of MX4, but it has adopted the quest of Canonical (UK-based company behind Ubuntu) to bring more innovative and intuitive user interface. This Linux-based open source software platform has been claimed to render "very futuristic design language to provide new and high-sensory experience, unlike other devices."

Coming to other specifications, smartphone is power packed with a 3100mAh battery and renders 4G LTE connectivity option. Featuring a 5.36-inch IPS display, it confers a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1152p and pixel density of 418ppi. On imaging front, rear panel of phone is decked with a 20.7-megapixel Sony IMX 220 Exmor RS sensor with dual LED flash as well as comprises a 2-megapixel selfie snapper.

The handheld is packed with an eight-core MediaTek 6595 processor clocked at 2.2GHz and houses PowerVR G6200 graphics processor.
