MWC 2017: Sony to Unveil Five New Smartphones

Sony, the Japanese smartphone, and electronics manufacturing firm is now getting ready to introduce five new smartphones at the upcoming Mobile World Congress next month at Barcelona. The company is also expected to unveil its flagship model, which has been codenamed ‘Yoshino’. The handset will introduce company’s new Imaging technology with 4K video support and will be powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC.

Sony’s launching event at MWC 2017 has been fixed to take place on February 27 at 1 pm IST, and some previous rumors also have hinted the arrival of two mid-ranged smartphones powered by MediaTek SoC. On the other hand, Samsung and Xiaomi have pulled out their hands from the world level event, so people’s expectations at the event have shifted towards the likes of LG and Moto to heat up the event.

As per the specifications, company’s upcoming flagship model ‘Yoshino’ is expected to arrive with a 5.5-inch 4K display along with 802 ppi of pixel density. It is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor, which will also be seen with Galaxy S8 smartphone. The handset will also be blessed with the new IMX400 camera sensor as its biggest highlight and will be available in 4GB RAM or 6GB RAM variants.

Next in the list is Sony’s BlancBright, which will reportedly be blessed with a 5.5-inch QHD display, and be powered either by Snapdragon 835 or 653 processor coupled with 4GB RAM. The handset is likely to pack the same Sony IMX400 camera sensor just as Yoshino. Alongside this, is company’s ‘Keyaki’, which seems to be a mid-ranged handset and features a 5.2-inch Full HD display, MediaTek Helio P20 SoC inside, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and 23MP/16MP cameras.

Rest of the two Android smartphones are expected to be the budget offerings codenamed ‘Hinoki’ and ‘Mineo'. It which, the ‘Hinoki’ is expected to arrive with a 5-inch HD display, along with MediaTek Helio P20 chipset, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, and 16MP/8MP front cameras. There is no information on Mineo yet, but it may come under USD 350.
