OnePlus 5 Battery Life Issues Emerges After Emergency Call Bug Fix

OnePlus, the Chinese premium smartphone manufacturing firm has recently rolled out a fix for the emergency calling bug in its OnePlus 5 handset, but it looks like this action of the company has resulted in an another issue. The recently launched bug fix update for the emergency call issue resulted in users experiencing unexpected reboots while calling helpline numbers such as 911. Moreover, the new update also caused battery life issues to the smartphones. Currently, OnePlus has reportedly been working on the enhancement of the battery life of OnePlus 5 in its upcoming OxygenOS 4.6 update.

Some of the OnePlus 5 users have complained in the company’s forum that they are facing battery life issues, after getting the new update installed in their OnePlus 5 handsets. Some users have even complained that their handsets lose 20-25 battery during the night in the idle state. One of the users in the forum said, “There were no issues initially. Since last 2 days, since I have got an update for the 911 error, I am suffering massive battery drain in phone idle. It's about 30 percent with all the apps running and 20 percent with closing all apps and the Internet in 6 hours of sleep mode. Please guide me.”

OnePlus 5 emergency call issue

One of the workarounds, on the forum, suggested that the issue can be resolved by switching off Reliance Jio SIM if it is not getting used, however, the company is yet to respond on the issue. The company is expected to roll out a patch soon, as the issue has already been reported by several users on the official forum.

Apart from this, a French publication named Frandroid has also reported that the company has started working on its upcoming Oxygen OS 4.6 update to improvise the battery life of the handset. As per the reports, one of the ways to improve the battery life is by integrating Energy Aware Scheduling (EAS) technology in the handset’s kernel.

OnePlus 5 battery drain issue

According to the report, EAS technology will take advantage of the big.LITTLE architecture present in the OnePlus 5’s Snapdragon 835 processor, which manages the cores of SoC in an advanced manner and assigns a task to various parts in a more efficient way. The report further adds that the EAS technology has already embedded in the Google’s Pixel smartphones, while, other smartphones with similar kernel versions such as the Galaxy S8 and Xiaomi Mi 6 will soon get the benefit from the new technology.
