OnePlus 5 Confirmed to Launch Soon as a 'Big Surprise' by CEO

OnePlus, the leading Chinese smartphone manufacturing firm is believed to skip number 4 for its smartphone series, as it is considered unlucky in the home country. So, it is now said to launch OnePlus 5 smartphone in the global smartphone market this year. There is no confirmation revealed by the company for any smartphone launch as of now, but CEO Pete Lau sweeping out all the speculations has now confirmed that the company is currently working on something ‘big’ aka the OnePlus 5.

Pete Lau has recently shared an image on Weibo to encourage the OnePlus team to carry on their mission. The image was originally posted by OnePlus, and in his shared post, Lau stated that the employees are working continuously without a break to bring a ‘big surprise’ for its customers. The uploaded picture on Weibo shows labourers working on a smartphone, which indicates that the company is talking about its OnePlus 5 launch. This post confirms that the company is about to introduce something big this year.

The company is again expected show up in the market along with its traditional strategy of delivering best specifications at a reasonable price. Moreover, the Android smartphone is believed to be introduced sometime in the second half of 2017 and is said to come with a 5.5-inch 2K display of resolution 1080 x 2048 pixels. It is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of inbuilt memory space.

In term of optics, the Dual-SIM smartphone is tipped to feature a 23-megapixel rear camera along with some additional features such as optical image stabilisation, zoom, and flash. A 16-megapixel front shooter is also provided by the company for shooting selfies.

According to some previous reports, the upcoming GSM handset will be blessed with a dual-edged display, hardware navigation keys, and the bezel will also be a bit slimmer than the predecessor. Due to the enhanced size of the display, the fingerprint scanner will be housed at the rear side of the smartphone. The upcoming OnePlus 5 is also expected to be 7mm thin as well, which is slightly thinner than the current OnePlus 3 and may come with a ceramic body design just like Xiaomi Mi Max.
