After introducing the Eluga A3 and A3 Pro mid-range smartphones in India earlier this month, Japanese electronics company Panasonic on Wednesday expanded its Eluga series smartphone portfolio with the launch of a new budget-oriented smartphone, Panasonic Eluga I2 Activ in the Indian tech market at a starting price of Rs. 7,190. The new Panasonic Eluga I2 Activ comes in two variants based on its RAM configuration: Eluga I2 Activ with 1GB RAM and Eluga I2 Activ with 2GB RAM. As for pricing, the Panasonic Eluga I2 Activ with 1GB RAM variant has been launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 7,190, while for the top-end variant with 2GB RAM, you have to pay Rs. 7,990. Both the variants will be soon available for purchase in India in three different shades including Gold, Rose Gold, and Grey.
Commenting on the launch of the new Eluga I2 Activ smartphone, Mr. Pankaj Rana, Business Head – Mobility Division, Panasonic India, said, "With the launch of ELUGA I2 Activ, we aim to target users who wish to own stylish and selfie camera-specific smartphones. This smartphone comes with 5.0″ HD display which can be easily carried in your pocket and used on the go. Consumers nowadays prefer using their smartphones as an everyday pocket camera. A recent research by Counterpoints Research stated that nearly 33% of users prioritize a better selfie camera or fingerprint sensor for their next smartphone purchase."

As far as specifications are concerned, the Panasonic Eluga I2 Activ flaunts a 5-inch HD IPS display with a screen resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved Asahi Dragon Trial glass coating on top. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a 1.25GHz MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor clubbed with Mali T720 image processing unit to handle the graphics. In terms of memory, the Panasonic Eluga I2 Activ is backed up by a 1GB/2GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box.
For photography, the Panasonic Eluga I2 Activ features an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and an LED flash module. On the front, the device sports a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for making video calls and capturing selfies. On the connectivity front, this dual SIM smartphone (Hybrid Dual SIM) offers various connectivity options including 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, FM Radio, a 3.5mm audio jack and a micro USB 2.0 port for charging and data transfer. Sensors on the smartphone include Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, and Ambient Light Sensor. On the battery front, the Panasonic Eluga I2 Activ comes loaded with a decent 2,200mAh battery. Dimensionally, the handset measures 143 x 71.2 x 7.95mm and weighs 133 grams.
