Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), Galaxy A7 (2017) With VoLTE and IP68 Rating Launched in India

Samsung, the leading smartphone manufacturing firm has unveiled its Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) smartphones in India on Monday. The handsets were previously introduced in Russia ahead of CES 2017. Both of the handsets will be available from 15 March in Black Sky and Gold Sand colour variants across the country.

Pre-bookings of the smartphones have already started from the launching day itself via the Samsung E-Store and offline retailers as well, in which the Galaxy A5 has been priced at Rs 28,990 while Galaxy A7 has been priced at Rs 33,490. The highlighting features of both the Android smartphones are their enhanced cameras with low-light optimisation, their Galaxy S7-style design, and a simplified camera UX with a Food Mode.

Moreover, both the GSM handsets are blessed with IP68-rating, which makes it first water and dust resistant handset in this price segment. The smartphones also pack 32GB of inbuilt memory space, which can be expanded further up to 256GB via microSD card and includes a fingerprint sensor, an Always on Display, a 3.5mm jack along with a USB Type-C port, Samsung Pay support, Secure Folder and Samsung Cloud as well.

Both the recently launched Dual-SIM smartphones come with a lot of similar features, which includes 4G (LTE Cat. 6) and VoLTE support, the use of Super AMOLED displays, and the same sensors as well - an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, magnetometer, and proximity sensor. Running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow the smartphones also bear Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, and NFC as connectivity options.

Powering the smartphones is the same 1.9GHz octa-core SoC paired with 3GB of RAM and both packs 16-megapixel front and rear camera with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash. Coming next to the differences, the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) features a 5.2-inch full-HD Super AMOLED display with resolution 1080 x 1920 pixels and is backed up by a 3000mAh battery. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) features a 5.7-inch full-HD Super AMOLED display with resolution 1080 x 1920 pixels and is backed up by a larger 3600mAh battery.
