Samsung Producing own 128GB Universal Flash Storage for Smartphones

Samsung seems all set to add one more name in its range of in-house products. This time its about an ultra fast flash storage. The company has started the mass production of the first ultra-fast 128GB memory chip which is based on the Universal Flash Storage 2.0 for smartphones. However, the 128GB storage is not the surprising one in smartphone now, but an ultra fast UFS based chip is just outstanding. It will not only boast the space, but also enhance the performance because of Command Queue technology.

Thanks to this technology that will make this memory chip to act like SSD. You can say that it will put the power of PC in your smartphone. It’s not an ordinary flash storage in smartphone which lack while 4K videos or huge games are running on the device. It’s 2.7 times faster than the ordinary flash in smartphones in the form of eMMC. It gives the sequential speeds which matches with the level of SSD. After embedding such memory chip, it will almost remove the option of microSD card slot in devices. Company will also be making the UFS chip in 32GB and 64GB storage options.

Samsung stated, "UFS memory conducts 19,000 input/output operations per second (IOPS) for random reading. It also delivers a sequential read and write performance boost up to SSD levels, in addition to a 50 percent decrease in energy consumption. In addition, the random read speed is 12 times faster than that of a typical high-speed memory card (which runs at 1,500 IOPS)." Overall, it will be capable in boosting system performance.

However, it is not known that what devices will be using these UFS chips, but it is expected that the next flagship may come paired with the same.
