Samsung Releases Its First Update For Galaxy S8+ Including April Security Patch

Just a few days after the launching of its latest flagship Galaxy S8+ smartphone, Samsung has reportedly started rolling out the first update for the device in some regions. While the new update doesn’t bring any new features ahead of release, it does include April 2017 security update, which helps in fixing some Operating System vulnerabilities of the handset.

According to a report by Sammobile, the Galaxy S8+ users in Belgium and Germany has started receiving the first software update, and other countries in the region are expected to get it soon in next few days. According to the same report, the new update brings along improvements for the facial recognition feature. This improvement might make it more secure by resolving the bypass was found for the feature just after a short time duration after the launch.

Apart from this, as we have already mentioned above, the update includes April Android security update, which fixes a total number of 49 common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVE) in the Android operating system along with 16 additional bugs specifically for Samsung Galaxy smartphone series.

Earlier this month, iDevice Help, a YouTube channel shared a video sourced by @marcianophone, which showed that the facial recognition feature of Galaxy S8 can be easily fooled just by using the user image. The user in the video took another smartphone along with his picture closer to the front shooter of Galaxy S8 to unlock the handset. This video, in which the user was able to unlock the device with just a picture of the user developed a concern regarding the security of the device.
