Bajaj VS400 Rechristened Again; Will Now be Called 'Kratos 400'

For the third time, Bajaj is rechristening the highly-awaited bike of the year, the Bajaj VS400, which isn’t carrying the same nameplate any longer. The secret, which the company has been trying to hide for a long period is no more a secret and here’s the new brand beneath which the fresh range of Bajaj motorcycles will be placed. Monikered as ‘Kratos’, the new appellation is what the upcoming VS400 will get now.

Company’s most stable range- the Pulsar is the premium Bajaj motorcycle range in the country till date. The aforementioned brand will cater the VS400 in the festive season. With an aggressive silhouette, extended wheelbase, low set handlebars, and sturdy fuel tank, the flagship ‘Kratos VS400’ is the same the concept model, which was unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo.

Kratos VS400

It respires via an upgraded version of the same one-cylinder mill packed by the Pulsar AS200 and the Pulsar RS200. The 377cc displacement motor produces 34BHP of power, which sends all its potential to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox. The Kratos VS400 will be the most powerful bike in Bajaj’s niche till date.

As far as the price and competition are concerned, the nameplate itself is good enough to compete with the legendary Royal Enfield range along with the Mahindra Mojo and the upcoming Renegade Sport S. The ARAI certification formalities have already been done by the manufacturer and it is going to be priced between INR 1.7 lakh- INR 1.9 lakh.
