BMW To Launch X7 SUV and i8 roadster by 2018

BMW has confirmed that it will launch the new X7 and i8 roadster in 2018. The Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Harald Kruger made an announcement at the 96th AGM in Munich. The automaker also plans to reveal the all-new luxury model lineup soon, which will be used to stretch the current luxury top lineup.

According to the reports, the new X7 SUV is likely to be the top of line up SUV. It will be positioned above the X6 SUV. It is said to be a full-sized SUv, full of luxury features. It will be offered in both petrol and diesel versions. It will also feature some equipments in share with the new 7 series model.

Meanwhile, the i8 roadster will be a convertible version of the i8 coupe, which is already popular since 2013. Interestingly, , the i8 roadster concept model was displayed at the 2016 consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It is claimed to receive an upgraded drivetrain setup with larger power option and a better electric motor.

However, many things are still uncertain about the new i8 roadster. But, it's confirmed that it will get an upgraded and powerful electric motor than the existing i8 coupe model. The electric motor will be aligned with the 1.5 liter three-cylinder petrol engine, the combined power figure is likely to go up to 420 hp. The current i8 delivers 360 hp and sprints 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds.

The automaker has been eyeing on the Indian auto market as a potential market for launching its large SUV X7 and i8 roadster. The company will release more details in the coming days.
