Government Finally Acknowledged Indian Motorsports as a Sport

The time of celebration has come for all the Motorsports enthusiasts as the Indian government has finally given green signal to the Motorsports. Government of India finally approved Motorsports as sports by including Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), the governing body in sports ministry backed National Sports Federations (NSF) list.

This good news arrived at the time when the governing body was working to make a comeback of Formula 1 back to the Buddh International Circuit. The race was paused due to some tax and political hurdles. After making a revision of sports, the ministry added this sports in "OTHERS" category. Under this category, it has been mentioned that no financial assistance will be offered to the authorities by FMSCI in organizing the event.

"This can only be good for Indian Motorsports. Interestingly, the government never de-recognized FMSCI, it just took the body off the recognized NSFs list in 2011 and it has re-recognized us. And the reason there was a lot of criticism surrounding government's apathy towards motor sport was because that was the time when Formula 1 came to India for the first time (in 2011). The Indian Motorsports was in the limelight like never before," said Vicky Chandok, president, FMSCI.

Even though there will be a lack of financial support from the concerned authority, this sports will going to open the doors for all motorbike riders through which they will be able to showcase their talent by participating in various activities. Motorsports will definitely gain government's attraction after getting success, but till then, it has to be organized from their own collective wealth.
