After being revealed in sketches, the next generation Volkswagen Tiguan has made its way to the Frankfurt Auto Show 2015. This crossover will arrive at Indian shores by the end of next year in the form of CKD kits and will be assembled at company's plant situated in Chakan, Maharashtra. This premium vehicle will be rolled out targeting the likes of Chevrolet Trailblazer, Ford Endeavour and Ford Endeavour.
Based on the MQB platform that also underpins Passat and Skoda Fabia, the new Tiguan has grown in size yet weighs lighter than the outgoing model. The front and rear ends reflect a look of the Passat saloon with some other significant changes. Its length and wheelbase have grown by 60 mm and 77 mm respectively. The boot capacity is rated at 615 litres comprising an extra rear kneeroom of 29 mm. After folding down the seats, the boot space increases to 1655 litres. Globally, it will be offered in a 5-seat configuration while for our country, it will come with a 7-seat occupancy.

Coming to the mechanical portion, it will be offered in both petrol and diesel variants powered by a 1.4 litre TSI (123.3 Bhp) and a 2 litre, TDI (138 Bhp) respectively. Apart from these, a hybrid version will also be there in the lineup that will be packed with a 1.4 litre TSI engine, integrated with and electric powertrain. This mechanical setup will be able to return an unbeatable fuel efficiency of 52.36 km/l. A manual as well as an automatic DSG unit will transmit power, that will be linked to a 2WD and AWD facilities.
