Jaguar Land Rover to Start Manufacturing Facility in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Jaguar Land Rover, recently confirms the opening of its Brazil-based manufacturing unit and the education business partnership centre at Itatiaia in Rio de Janeiro. The luxury car maker invested a big amount of 240 Million pound, equivalent around 2,280 crores Indian rupee to begin operation at a newly developed factory.

Tata motors owned- Jaguar Land Rover, did not disclose the production volume to be manufactured at the facility. However, it gives the name of models- Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery Sport to be developed and sold across the Brazil from this month.

“The creation of new international factories allows JLR to offer its customers even more exciting new models, protect against currency fluctuations and create a globally competitive business,” the company said.

Furthermore added, it is the first wholly-owned facility from the JLR out of Britain as a part of firm’s expansion across the globe. Till now, the brand was operating a Chinese joint venture production facility established in 2014.

Wolfgang Stadler, JLR’s Executive Director, Manufacturing said, “The opening of JLR’s new world-class facility in Brazil marks the latest exciting milestone in our global expansion”.

Satisfied with the Land Rover Sales status, he further added, In the midsized premium SUVs, Land Rover is the Brazil’s market Leader and getting sales over 30 percent in this segment.

Altogether with the production facility the started JLR’s first overseas Education Business Partnership Centre, which will offer a range of classroom activities to educate over 12000 local children every year, the JLR added.
