Lexus, a luxury car manufacturing arm of the popular Japanese auto major Toyota, has already notified that it will officially showcase an upgraded model of its entry-level compact SUV, 2018 Lexus NX at the Shanghai Motor Show during next month.
The India launch of the NX is probable to take place soon after its global debut in Shanghai. Post launch, India-bound NX will be pitted against the already available contenders in this segment such as Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1 and the Audi Q3.
Recently, the carmaker has released a single image of the 2018 NX, which is previewing a new yet more appealing front headlamp along with a reworked “spindle” grille and some more.
Other than this, well, the Lexus did not officially reveal any details cues of the small SUV. But an official press release suggests an ‘updated exterior design, and an improved interior that add both “convenience and functionality”, that is clearly indicating at the furnishing of a new infotainment system.
The Lexus NX SUV case is all similar as most of the models' facelift in the world, it has also received improved aesthetics and additional features but without mechanicals alterations. If launched in India, it will mark its presence all the way through CBU route like its sedan sibling the Lexus ES, which has recently been launched in the country.
The ongoing NX model was exhibited worldwide in April 2014 at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition in China. On powering front, It is being offered with a choice of naturally aspirated or turbocharged petrol engine along with a hybrid powertrain across the globe. The India-bound Lexus NX is expected to be offered in the hybrid and the turbo petrol versions.
The NX 300h hybrid gets a 2.5-litre Atkinson cycle engine mated to electric motors that churn out a cumulative power output of 194PS via a mated an ECVT (electronically controlled continuously variable transmission) gearbox.
Whereas, the NX 200T get the propelling power from a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, which belts out the maximum power of 235PS and a peak torque of 350Nm through the mated a six-speed automatic transmission.
