Pininfarina is known for the stunning sheet work on exclusive cars like Ferrari, Maserattis and Rolls Royce. It's an Italian design house who has been running into some troubles lately as its clients had started doing the designing themselves instead of depending on the firm and as per the reports Mahindra had been showing its interest in buying the firm from quite a long time specially after taking help on the design for its model TUV300.

The acquisition had been making rounds on the media front for quite some time, but it never got finalized as the stakeholders weren't convinced on selling the design firm to Mahindra. Recent advancements and reports suggest that the design firm is still hoping to clinch a sale with the Indian car maker and if the deal gets finalized, it will be beneficial not just for the Pininfarina but also for Mahindra as it will give the automobile company a massive advantage over its rivals.
When Pininfarina was asked to comment on the news, it quoted, “Negotiations between controlling shareholder Pincar, creditor banks and Mahindra... over the acquisition of Pinifarina's shares owned by Pincar and debt restructuring never broke off”.
