Next Generation Jaguar XF Premiered at New York Show

After unwrapping last month, the second generation Jaguar XF has finally been demonstrated at the ongoing 2015 New York Auto Show. This mid size sedan will be firstly arriving in the United States later in the current year, while is expected to go on sale in the Indian market next year. Based on the lightweight aluminium construction as the latest XE and the upcoming F-Pace SUV, it gets 7 mm of reduced length and 51 mm of extended wheelbase as compared to its outgoing version, which result in 4,954 mm and 2,960 mm, respectively.

Now, this vehicle saves the weight about 190 Kg that helps to make it more fuel efficient than its predecessor. Coming to inside, Jaguar offers an all new 'InControl Touch Pro' infotainment system alongside a 10.2 inch touchscreen, including an optional reconfigurable 12.3 inch TFT instrument cluster. Interestingly, the second generation XF receives the Jaguar Drive Control (JDC) system comprising three standard driving modes for enabling its driver to select one among all these choices, such as Normal, Winter and Dynamic.

Moreover, the car includes Autonomous Emergency Braking, All Wheel Drive (AWD) system with Adaptive Surface Response mode, Braking as well as Dynamic Stability Control, Adaptive Cruise Control alongside Queue Assist, Lane Assist, Speed Limiter and Semi Automated Parking. On the outside, this luxurious sedan features a full LED headlights, while for driving convenience, there is one more application, which is known as Laser Heads Up Display.

Mechanically, The new XF gets powertrain from the Ingenium family with a 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine that churns out a power of 163 hp and torque of 380 Nm on its base variant, while this mill will be available on the top end version to produce the outputs of 180 hp and 430 Nm. On the other hand, a 3.0 litre V6 twin turbo diesel engine promises to make 300 hp and 700 Nm of power outputs.

However, the S trim is powered by a 3.0 litre V6 supercharged engine to generate power of 380 hp and torque of 450 Nm. A 6-speed manual as well as an 8-speed automatic transmission will be mated to their compatible engines and variants.
