Renault Kwid AMT Rotary Gear Knob Teaser Image

A few days ago, Renault has posted a teaser image of rotary gear selector knob tagging it ‘Get ready to change the way you drive’ which clearly hinted towards its much anticipated SUV-like shaped small hatch, Kwid. As this same gear knob was spotted on the Kwid AMT model that was showcased at Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year.

Since the AMT will be offered with top-end optional variant only, the model will be fully loaded with all Kwid equipment including the lime-light features, the driver side airbag and a touch-screen smart infotainment system. Here is the list of 1.0-litre Kwid AMT highlighted features and equipment:
Touchscreen smart infotainment display with navigation, USB, Bluetooth and aux-in connectivity
12V power socket
Remote keyless entry with central locking
Front power windows
Foldable backrest
Rear parcel tray
Front fog lamps
Passenger-side exterior mirror

On the teaser image, the AMT gear selector knob has three modes namely, R (Reverse), N (Neutral) and D (Drive). One will miss the manual or sports mode here, as there are no such options. The Knob is located at the center console, next to the power window switches and leaves more space in the front row. Similar to the manual version, the Kwid AMT will also be paired with the 5-speed unit.

On the AMT version, the Czech automaker was also expected to introduce Creep or Crawl function which allows the car move ahead at a very slow speed (around 2-5 kmph) by simply releasing the brake pedal which is a quite helpful mechanics which gives smooth motion to the car especially in crawling traffic or in reverse gear. But as per the revealed vehicle details, there is no such information has been out yet. The AMT Kwid will also get the same ‘Easy-R’ badge which has also seen on the company's compact SUV, Duster AMT.

This new transmission option will cost around INR 40,000 to INR 50,000, in addition to the model price. Currently, the 1.0-litre Renault Kwid RxT (0) model comes at a price of INR 4.10 Lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. When launched, it will be the sole competitor of Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 AMT in the Indian market.
