Recently, Renault India hosted an official ride event for the upcoming Kwid model where it has revealed some important details about the hatchback. According to the automaker, it is going to be the most fuel efficient petrol car in the Indian automobile market.
As per the reports, this hatchback model is going to be fitted with a 0.8 litre petrol engine under its hood. The power output pumped out by the powertrain will measure 57 Bhp and it will be torqued at 74 Nm. Power will be transmitted via a 5-speed manual gearbox and the ARAI rated fuel efficiency delivered by the Kwid will be 25.17 km/l. This vehicle might be introduced later with a 1 litre engine that could be mated to an AMT unit.
Dimension wise, this upcoming car will stand 3,769 mm long, 1,579 mm wide, offering wheelbase of 2,423 mm and 180 mm ground clearance. Its body weight is just 660 kg and the boot capacity measures 300 litres. Talking about the cabin, it is quite spacious and flaunts a hi-tech 7-inch Media NAV facility that is compatible with Bluetooth, iPhone and iPod, USB, AUX-in, SD as well as a satellite navigation system available with free updated maps for one year. For safety, ABS will not be present but a driver side airbag will come as an optional arrangement.
Kwid will be rolled out in four different variants namely Std, RxE, RxL and RxT with five shades to choose from- Fiery Red, Ice Cool White, Planet Grey, Moonlight Grey and Outback Bronze. As per the company, booking procedure will officially commence from 14th of this month. The price to be fixed for this SUV might range between INR 2.5 to 4.5 Lacs and will rival the likes of Alto 800, Datsun Go and Hyundai Eon.
