Yamaha Launches A New Plant In Chennai

India Yamaha is a renowned name, which pulsates in every Indian enthusiast's heart. The company is gearing-up to increase its production capacity as the India Yamaha Motor Pvt ltd has inaugurated its third production plant in Chennai. The Japanese bike maker already manufactures its entire range of motorcycles in its existing units, which are situated at Surajpur in Uttar Pradesh and Faridabad in Haryana. This new manufacturing unit is addressed at the industrial park, Vallam Vadagal, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Yamaha Chennai Plant

The new plant is extended across 177 acres. The total area is divided in to tow partition, 109 acres area and 68 acres area respectively new facility and vendor partners. Yamaha signed with the Tamil Nadu Government, a MoU in May, 2012 regarding opening a manufacturing plant in the state. The new operating factory will work with the existing plants of Yamaha India. The Japanese giants wants to increase its production capacity of 2.5 million units by 2018 through its existing plant including this factory, considering the heavy demand of Indian customers.

The chairman of India Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd, Mr. Hiroaki Fujita said on this great occasion "We plan to invest a total of Rs. 1,500 crores in phases till 2018 when the new plant is expected to have a capacity of 1.8 million units. The company has sold 7.4 lakh units in 2014 and we are eyeing double-digit sales growth in 2015. The company is also targeting a significant increase in the domestic market share in the coming three years".

Moreover, There are nine vendor partners who decided to invest Rs. 1,000 crore to serve a better facility. A big number of around 3,000 employees will work with vendor partners by 2018. This facility is designed in a very well planned manner as it incorporates with advanced technologies for Zero water discharge, reuse of waste water, use sunlight at a peak level and state of the art infrastructure. These utilities are situated in the center to minimize distribution loss and management.

Apart from this, Yamaha India will manufacture various motorcycles and scooters including new Saluto 125cc, Fascino, Alpha, Ray and Ray Z in Chennai facility. Initially, the annual manufacturing capacity of this plant will be around 450,000 units and more than 2,000 people will employ with this new plant. The number of employ will increase up to 3,900 employees by 2018. Yamaha has made a good decision that 40 percent women employees will work in the Yamaha's new plant.
